What is mammography?
Mammography is a simple, low dose breast X-ray examination. It is the most reliable way to detect breast cancer before the lump can be felt.
What happens during mammography?
Each breast is placed in turn between two plastic plates of the X-ray machine and gently pressed. Some women may experience discomfort during the compression. If this happens, do let the radiographer know.
How do I prepare for mammography?
1) Schedule your test at least one week after your period.
2) Do not wear any deodorant, perfume, powder or ointment on the underarm or breasts
