Beams proudly announces the 4th National Annual Conference in the
“Just………..” Series.
Uterine fibroids are the most common benign pelvic tumors in women in the reproductive age. They may present with infertility, bleeding, pressure symptoms, pain and are of different types in different ages and demand different treatment. The absence of a standardized classification or scoring system for fibroids makes management difficult. Being the leading indication for hysterectomy in the world, they are a major public health concern. Currently about 2,40,000 hysterectomies are performed in the United States annually for fibroids and another 1,20,000 for its related symptom - bleeding, at an annual cost of care estimated to be 2 billion US dollars.
Laparoscopic removal is becoming the gold standard for treatment of fibroids irrespective of size, site and number. The potential advantage of rapid recovery and minimal tissue trauma due to this approach is obvious, however the level of skill required is great, thereby limiting its wide spread availability. With advances in instrumentation, and increasing levels of endoscopic competency, it can now be within the capability of most gynaecologists.
Understanding the genetic basis and molecular biology of uterine fibroids will be the basis of newer treatment options. The next frontiers in fibroid research and treatment will pose unique challenges.
We present a two-day live workshop cum conference, which brings a true perspective of the status of laparoscopy in the management of fibroids, the current view, the correct techniques, feasibility and possible complications.
This will be a completely new, exciting and challenging experience and a pure learning phenomenon.
I welcome you to this unique conference “Just Fibroids………. in pursuit of excellence”.
