Laparascopic Gynaecology (Basic) Including interactive Live Demonstration

Course Overview and Objective:

This course provides Gynaecologists knowledge and information on Equipment, Instrumentation and Techniques. It also provides a simulated ‘Hands-on’ experience in Laparoscopic Surgery for Adhesions, Endometriosis, Ovarian cysts, Ectopic Pregnancy etc. Inter-active ‘Live Demonstration’ forms a part of this course.

Pelvi-Trainer Sessions:

Surgical Exercises, Laparoscopic Knot-tying, Demonstration on Laparoscopic Suturing etc.

Didactic Sessions:

Presentations on Laparoscopic Surgical Techniques for Adhesiolysis, Endometriosis, Ovarian Cysts, Ecotopic Pregnancy, Fibroids etc. Lectures on ‘Safe use of Electrosurgery’. Use of ‘Harmonic Scalpel’ and ‘Use of Gynaecological surgery and their management. Use of ‘Morcellator’, ‘Adhesive Prevention’.

Animate Sessions:

A ‘hands-on’ exposure to surgical skills, dissection, etc.

Live Surgery Sessions:

Laparoscopic Surgery for Adhesions, Ovarian Cysts, Endometriosis, Fibroids, Salipingectomy (depending upon availability of cases) will be demonstrated. Participants will be allowed to observe and interact with faculty during live surgery.

There has been a paradigm shift in the focus of Gynaecology in recent years.The enormous advances in operative endoscopic technology has led to laparscopic surgery replacing age-old conventional surgical methods to such an extent that there is no doubt that the new millennium will be the era of “minimally invasive surgery”. Even advanced laparoscopic procedures like hysterectomy, myomectomy and stress urinary incontinence are gaining remendous recognition all over the world. Laparoscopic hysterectomy offers many obvious benefits to the patients as compared to the more conventional open technique. Myomectomy can also be successfully done laparsocopically and now, site, size and number of the myomas are no more the limitation to laparoscopic myomectomy.

To-day, stress urinary incontinence is also increasingly being done laparoscopically because the anatomical details as seen laparoscopically cannot be duplicate by open surgery.

In our endevaour to keep up with these recent advances, we have organized advanced training programmes, one in Laparoscopic hysterectomy and myomectomy and the other in Pelvic Floor Reconstruction and stress urinary incontinence. These are comprehensive programmes which include ‘hands-on’ animate sessions, didactic training, pelvitrainer sessions and live demonstrations.
